1st Birthday and Global Sharing Day!

It's time to Celebrate and you are invited!

Save the Date: June 2nd

We are proud to announce that we will be partaking in Global Sharing Day! Instead of celebrating on Sunday, we have chosen Monday as our day to share with you, because thats the day our co-workers and you are back to work!

From 07:00 08:30 we will have light breakfast snacks and coffee for The Sett users and invited guests. It's out birthday so it will be a party! Watch your email inbox for your invitation or email us if you'd like to be included.

For the rest of the day we will be sharing coffee with members of the neighboring office parks in Richefond circle.

We love connecting with our business neighbors in an atmosphere where collaboration and idea creation can flourish. Our birthday and Global sharing day is the ideal opportunity to promote the Sharing Economy which provides a sustainable future for us all.

Check out our event listing here and see you soon!

1 year of the Sett

April marks the 12th month that The Sett has been open! We are officially 1 year old…

What a great first year it has been, these are some of our highlights:

  • Toni and Travis Gale (Directors at The Sett) had a baby girl, Ella, on 13th August 2013
  • More decor, designed by Gareth Henderson was introduced in November 2013: our yellow dogs, inside and outside astro turf, viynal artwork, word search interactive art piece and more…
  • Sbu got his bike license on 22nd January 2014
  • After enjoying tasty lunches from local food producers: Ray's Kitchen, Zac and Tonic and Zest, we began in house catering in February 2014.
  • We started Roti Friday in March 2014
  • We took Colombo on as our new coffee supplier
  • Lauren joined us as our social media manageress in April 2014
  • And of course, April is our birthday month!

Not only is our space the head office for Appletree Catalyst Agency, but we started signing subscribers from March 2013 and have never looked back!

We are privileged to now, also be the head office for Activate and Gangs of Ballet

From April 2013 - April 2014, we have had 103 co-workers register with us!

Of the 103 registered users, we have an average of 16 coworkers on any given day at The Sett.

Our coworkers represent 30 different companies, and they all work together from our shared, collaborative space.

Célia's Journey

Célia is a co worker at the Sett and is part of the Appletree Catalyst Agency team. She is also one of the runners of the London Marathon.

In preparing for her journey ahead, she was pushed far out of her comfort zone. Through facing this challenging situation, she had to become brave in order to reach her goal of completing the race.

Below is an extract taken from her blog post "Breaking the Mold

Consider the following when you face your comfort zone:

  • Embrace The Mistakes: Especially when you are trying something new or different for the first time. Albert Einstein said: “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new”. So try taking the pressure off yourself and tell yourself the following: “ It’s ok to make mistakes…in fact I welcome mistakes because it’s part of the process and I know it helps me in learning about myself and what I’m trying to achieve.”

  • Silence Your Inner Critic: This has been a big one for me. I’m constantly comparing myself to others when I run. I harshly define myself according to others and that really limits me from being authentically who I am as a runner. One way I now manage this is to remind myself of why I run and the values I choose to live by every time my inner critic tries to discourage me. For example: When I run I may not be the quickest but I know I won’t give up!

  • Celebrate Significant Milestones: We often leave the celebrations to achieving the end result. However I’ve learnt that even a marathon has significant milestones that I can celebrate on route to the end! Go ahead and celebrate your own milestones!

Remember that life begins at the end of your comfort zone!

Welcome to the Sett

Welcome to Durban's very own co-work space: the Sett. The Sett is an agile workspace which is set apart from the traditional office, home office or café. It's a community of people who cowork, connect and create within a quality environment which offers flexibility, convenience, value added services and other opportunities.

With the growing number of nomadic workers needing a flexible solution to work and meet we found an ideal location and created The Sett!

We offer workspace with unlimited fibre optic Wi-Fi, light lunch, snacks and beverages included in the rate. Our flexible pricing options range from 3 hours to 30 days.

As you can see from the pic above (taken by one of our coworkers: Andy Carrie), our view is stunning and our location in Umhlanga is ideal. For a map and directions, click here or contact us for more details.

Hope to see you soon!
